MTSU SHRM is a university-based organization aimed to advance the human resource profession to ensure that Human Resources is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.
What is SHRM?
Human resources is the organizational function concerned with people who work in the organization. It includes activities such as recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, training, labor relations, equal employment opportunity, performance appraisal, and safety. It would be of interest to students in diverse majors, including management, industrial relations, and psychology.
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. It is a leading voice of human resources, representing more than 275,000 professional and 19,000 student members in over 140 countries. MTSU Receives Student Chapter Merit Award
SHRM awarded a 2020-2021 Superior Student Chapter Merit Award designated to Middle Tennessee State University.
This designation was awarded to a select number of SHRM student chapters whose programs and activities were at a level that distinguished them from other chapters. It represents chapters for outstanding activities and projects in the following areas: Student Chapter Requirements, Chapter Operations, Chapter Programming and Professional Develoment of Members, Support of the Human Resource Profession, and SHRM Engagement.
Chapters have the opportunity to earn an award based on the number of activities they complete during the merit award cycle, which ran from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
